TruNorth Launches, Reps Lewitt Audio

Jeff Sazant, a 40-year veteran of the MI industry, recently announced the creation of TruNorth Music & Sound Inc., a new distribution company operating out of Blainville, QC. Austrian microphone manufacturer Lewitt Audio recently signed a distribution agreement appointing TruNorth Music & Sound as its exclusive North American distributor.

Sazant (pictured) previously held positions as VP of Musical Instruments and Business Development at SF Marketing in Montreal, as well as GM of Guitar Center’s Hollywood Store and Steve’s Music in Toronto.

“We are elated to be partnering with Lewitt in North America,” says Sazant on the distribution deal. “Lewitt may be a relative newcomer to the microphone market, but their years of experience designing and building high-end mics is in evidence throughout the entire product offering. They may be one of the best-prepared new entries our industry has seen!”

Beat Set To Drop On 2012 CDJ Show

The 2012 Canadian DJ Show (CDJ Show), being held March 17-18, 2012 at the Doubletree by Hilton Toronto Airport, is ready for what’s expected to be its largest edition to date.

The show will feature a wide range of seminar topics from presenters including Adam K and Noah Pred (Witz Education), Ben Stowe (NLFX Professional), Nick Fiorucci (Hi-Bias Records), and Paul Sanderson (Sanderson Entertainment Law), among several others.

As with previous years, the CDJ Show will cater to both aspiring and seasoned professional DJs, with a balanced emphasis on new products and services in the industry and professional development through seminars, panels, training sessions, and Q&As with product specialists.

“DJing has become more than just the act of playing music for the masses; it has become a lifestyle for many people across the world,” says Ryan Schroeyens, CDJ Show Founder. In addition to the variety of DJs that attend the show, exhibitors cater to other nightlife industry professionals including nightclub and special event venue owners, promoters, agents, and mobile DJ companies. The producer’s element of the show further extends the target market by providing new products, information, and training for electronic and urban music producers.

Yorkville Sound Appointed Exclusive Distributor Of Line 6 Live Sound & Mobile Product Lines

Line 6 has appointed Yorkville Sound as the exclusive Canadian distributor of its audio products and iOS-driven Mobile Music Series.

“The Line 6 StageScape visual mixing environment could completely redefine how we think about live sound,” says Jeff Cowling, Yorkville’s Canadian Sales Manager. “Having it as well as the new Line 6 StageSource loudspeaker system will be an exciting, high-tech addition to the Yorkville catalog.”

Yorkville began its relationship with Line 6 with the launch of the company’s digital wireless system in early 2010. Adds Cowling: “Adding the full PA product line seems like a natural progression for both companies as Line 6 ventures into new market segments.”

Digitalism Ignites The Dancefloor With iLive

German electro-house duo Digitalism has been touring internationally over the last year with an Allen + Heath iLive digital mixing system to manage FOH and monitors.

“Early on in the tour, the band only carried one iLive system, to keep monitors consistent,” explains FOH engineer Daniel MacBean. “However, we were so impressed with how easy the system is to tour with and set up that we decided to get a second system in for FOH. It literally takes 30 seconds to set up: plug in Cat-5, turn on power, and I’m good to go!”

The band is using two iDR-48 MixRacks and iLive-T80 control surfaces connected using Dante, providing a digital split between the FOH and monitor systems as well as additional recording facilities.

Elan Monitors JazzMaster 10CX

Lorraine, QC’s Elan Monitors has introduced the JazzMaster10CX Active Studio Monitor to the market, designed and built in Canada. Inspired by vintage Altec 604 and UREI monitors, the JazzMaster10CX uses a co-axial drive unit with a 10″ woofer and 12″ compression driver backed by Sigma Digital sound processing and Powersoft power modules.

Frequency range is software-limited to 40-20,000 Hz. Maximum output level is in excess of 115dB (123dB instant peak at 1 m) and 350 watts of power (700 watts into 4 ohms) per channel.

The enclosure is built exclusively from 16-ply, 1″ birch plywood for minimal energy storage and tight sound. Two structural laminar vents offer reflex loading for reduced turbulence and symmetrical output. High-frequency dispersion is 90 degrees conical and the output of the coaxial drivers is time- and phase-aligned via embedded memory. Four user-selectable presets come standard (flat, high and low 3dB roll-off, 3dB low roll-off, and 6 dB low roll-off) to compensate for room acoustics.

Fulcrum Acoustic RX699 Full-Range Loudspeaker

Fulcrum Acoustic has introduced its RX699 compact full-range loudspeaker, designed as a solution for locations with tight spaces such as stage lips, balconies, kiosks, multimedia, and delay/fill applications.

The system’s horn-loaded HF compression driver offers a high output-to-size ratio and 90-degree by 90-degree coverage. As with all Fulcrum products, the speaker uses the company’s TQ processing, which can be implemented on over 20 different DSP platforms. Housing a 6.5 coaxial speaker, the RX699 cabinet is 10.8″ x 7.1″ x 6.5″ and weighs 12 lbs. Connections from an external amplifier come via Neutrik NL4 Speakon jacks. Two yoke points as well as t-nuts for third party mounting systems are standard. Options include a mounting bracket and internal 70-volt transformer.
