The Toronto chapter of the Audio Engineering Society (AES) will be holding its March meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, March 31st at Ryerson University. It will be held in room RCC 361 of the Rogers Communications Building at 80 Gould St.
Bob Dylan and The Band, The Basement Tapes Complete, is a six-CD Sony Legacy release, 138 takes of 115 songs recorded informally throughout 1967 by The Band’s Garth Hudson, mostly in the cramped Woodstock-area basement of the abode known as Big Pink, while Dylan was recovering from a motorcycle accident. The tapes were restored and digitally re-mastered in Toronto at the E Room by Peter J. Moore and Jan Haust.
The meeting will feature the story about how the restoration came to happen, and what challenges were overcome to bring the tapes alive for the world to hear.
