Recording Arts Canada has announced it’s bringing two Grammy-winning producer/ engineers, Steve Baughman and Mauricio Iragorri, to RAC’s studios from Dec. 2-4, 2016. The pair will host a weekend of workshop events, and hope to identify a slew of rising talent in the Montreal and Toronto areas.
The independent power duo currently works with Death Row Records, Interscope Records, Sony Records, Capitol Records, Universal Music Group, among others, with credits going back 30-plus years, including Kendrick Lamar, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Game, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, Usher, Michael Jackson, Pussycat Dolls, Obie Trice, Rick Ross, Busta Rhymes, D12, Destiny’s Child, Pink, and more.
The Workshop starts with an in-depth seminar/ Q&A that gives Baughman and Iragorri the chance to introduce themselves, discuss the industry, and provide engineering demos to the audience.
Fol lowing seminar and Q&A sessions, attendees who submitted links to their work will have the chance to audition their beats/tracks to Baughman and Iragorri and receive feedback.
After this, Rapid Fire Mixing Sessions will take place where selected attendees will work on their project briefly with Baughman and Iragorri. One track will be selected as the beat for the cypher video.
The cypher will feature rappers in attendance, selected in advance from the list of applicants, The cypher will be recorded and filmed at RAC’s studios. Steve and Mauricio will mix and master the songs, which will be released and promoted after the event as “Emerging in Montreal & Toronto”. The event is a great opportunity for those in attendance to network and take real steps to taking their careers to the next level.
