AES Toronto Members’ Showcase; Call for Presentations

Presenters-2017The Toronto section of the Audio Engineering Society is holding its fourth annual Members Showcase of Gadgets and Projects night on February 27, 2018. Toronto AES members will be showcasing projects, hardware, and work they have developed and created. In the AES spirit of sharing knowledge, the group will be taking this opportunity to honour and appreciate some of the work that its fellow engineers do on a daily basis and as hobby projects.


AES Toronto & SMPTE to Host Joint Event on VR & Immersive Audio

aes smpteIn collaboration with the Toronto Section of the Audio Engineering Society and the Society of Motion Picture & Television Engineers, SIRT is bringing together VR and Immersive Audio experts to share knowledge, showcase technologies, and engage with the audio industry. SIRT’s Stage 10, at Pinewood Toronto Studios, will be transformed into a collaborative Immersive Audio showcase with the goal to accelerate the knowledge of all attendees.

Campaign Launched to Help Songwriter John Cody After Acclaimed Career Ended by Cancer

DSC_7695We here at NWC, publisher of Professional Sound and Canadian Musician magazines, have launched a crowd-funding campaign via GoFundMe to help acclaimed Canadian songwriter and musician John Cody. He is in desperate need of financial assistance due to cancer and other continually worsening health conditions that have taken his singing voice, ended his career, and left him in severe financial hardship.

Sennheiser Hosting Product Showcase in Toronto Next Week

GerrAudio Hosting Smaart V8 Training in Moncton Next Week

Smaart V8GerrAudio will be hosting a SMAART v8 Training Session in Moncton, NB on Oct. 3-5, 2017.  GerrAudio representatives along with design and tuning veteran Ian Robertson will offer a feature-packed course and teach attendees how to make the most of their sound system.

The training seminar is a three-day event that will cover the fundamentals of system tuning and alignment using SMAART v8.


Watch a Tech Tour of SSL’s Mobile Demo Studio

ssl truckYesterday, Sept. 20, we stopped by the Solid State Logic (SSL) Mobile Studio while it was stationed at the Long & McQuade on Bloor St. in downtown Toronto.

The SSL AWS Truck is a custom built mobile demo studio that contains two demo systems. One is based around our AWS 948 hybrid studio production console and a collection of SSL I/O. The second system is based around Nucleus2 with a particular emphasis on its use in Dante based multi-seat teaching labs. The truck’s internal acoustics were designed by Russ Berger so it provides a professional, comfortable listening environment for getting to know SSL’s range of hybrid studio technology.
