Avant-garde Musician Mitchell Akiyamam to Present at AES Toronto’s March Meeting

While at the 2017 NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA this weekend, Canadian Music Trade and Professional Sound Publisher Jim Norris was presented with a “Believe in Music” special service award by NAMM.

In presenting the award, NAMM Historian Dan Del Fiorentino said it was to recognize Jim’s “many years of excellent service in the music products industry” and for the support he has provided to the NAMM Oral History program.

In return, Jim thanks NAMM for its outstanding work and contributions to the MI and audio industry in North America.

Recording Arts Canada to Host Seminars with Steve Baughman & Mauricio Iragorri

The pair will host a weekend of workshop events, and hope to identify a slew of rising talent in the Montreal and Toronto areas.

The independent power duo currently works with Death Row Records, Interscope Records, Sony Records, Capitol Records, Universal Music Group, among others, with credits going back 30-plus years, including Kendrick Lamar, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Game, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, Usher, Michael Jackson, Pussycat Dolls, Obie Trice, Rick Ross, Busta Rhymes, D12, Destiny’s Child, Pink, and more.

Prism Sound held one its Mic to Monitors event last night at the Harris Institute in Toronto, featuring renowned audio engineer Nick Blagona, as well as representatives from DPA’s Canadian distributor GerrAudio, Unity Audio, and, of course, Prism Sound . The Mic to Monitor series of education and product events are taking place in cities across North America, including San Francisco, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Las Vegas.


AES Toronto to Present a Review of the Recent LA Convention Tonight

John Vanderkooy is back once again to give the review of the papers presented at this year’s AES convention. For those who couldn’t attend the conventions, this is an excellent opportunity to get an overview of the papers presented in an informative and digestible format.
