Analog Microphones For The Digital World: Why & How?
Based on the fundamentals of the physics, a simple model for any kind of electroacoustic transducer can be defined. From this model the principal behaviour of different transducers can be derived and understood:
1. AF- and RF-condenser- and electret microphones
2. Electro-dynamic and electro magnetic microphones
3. Optical microphones
4. Flow microphones = µFlown
5. Digital microphones
The basic differentiations in principal performance the vast range of possible realizations in hardware products will be highlighted and explained. The existing and future solutions will be shown, also indicating possibilities to push existing technology-limits in the coming years.
