Metalworks Group took home the SME Excellence Award at the annual Ontario Business Achievement Awards, hosted by the Ontario Chamber of Commerce. The award is presented each year to an Ontario SME (Small & Medium size Enterprise) that exemplified forward thinking in all aspects of its business.

On Nov. 28, Scott McCammon, Vice-President & General Manager of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, and Graham Henderson, President of Music Canada, presented Gil Moore, President & CEO of Metalworks Group and the founding member of Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductees Triumph, with the Ontario Business Achievement Award. Moore and Henderson reciprocated by presenting a Triumph gold record album to McCammon.

Moore comments on the honour, “I learned the value of teamwork performing with Triumph. The backbone of any great company are the people who work there, and at Metalworks we have 85 incredible team members that do a fantastic job every day. Whether it’s our faculty teaching students at our school, our live event teams that are out there doing music shows and charity galas, or the folks at our studio that are working on the next big album. They all care, they all have heart, they all pull together and that’s what makes coming to work a tremendous pleasure for me.”

Metalworks Studios, located in Mississauga, ON, was started in 1978 as a single studio by Triumph drummer/vocalist Gil Moore and his bandmates. Moore still oversees the now-six studio facility as president and CEO and Metalworks has becomes one of the most esteemed recording facilities in the country, hosting artists including, Drake, Guns n’ Roses, Bruce Springsteen, Katy Perry, Lil’ Wayne, Rush, Prince, and many, many more. As well, Metalworks as been named Canada’s Studio of the Year 15 times at the CMW Canadian Music Industry Awards.
