More Program Details Announced for AES 59th International Conference in Montreal

ADD4 MTLThe AES 59th International Conference on Sound Reinforcement Engineering and Technology, is fast approaching. Program details have been announced for the event, taking place July 15-17, 2015, at McGill University in Montreal. This is the first AES International Conference in over 25 years dedicated to large scale sound reinforcement, public address, and live sound.

A lineup of presenters is coming from the U.S., Canada, Europe, Asia, and Australia, and will offer a variety of perspectives on the most current information on sound reinforcement technology and practice. They will provides many tutorials, workshops, demonstrations, and paper presentations.

The full program for the three days of the conference can be found here: http://www.aes.org/conferences/59/program/

Additionally, a special presentation hosted by Fraunhofer IDMT has recently been added. Taking place July 16 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. EDT, the event is called “Spatial Sound Reinforcement: Hands On!” Its description says that high-quality acoustics that enhance performances and support localization of audio sources are a key factor for classical concerts, operas, or theater performances. Sound reinforcement systems designed for such events should aim not only to achieve an excellent sound amplification, but also to recreate the most similar spatial and acoustical impression. Under this premise, Fraunhofer IDMT has developed its “SpatialSound Wave” 3D audio system based on their ten years of experience collaborating with different opera festivals, and the long-time development of Wave Field Synthesis. Attendees can join this demo as audience or bring their own WAV files and “become the spatial tonmeister for one session.”

Send the presentation organizers an email at fts@idmt.fraunhofer.de to book a spot in the event. Presentation details can be found here: http://www.aes.org/conferences/59/demo/.

Richard King of McGill University, workshops co-chair for the conference, states, “The latest addition to this jam-packed program is an interactive 3D experience, for which attendees are encouraged to bring in their own multi-track files for a truly unique ‘spatial mixing’ session.”
