le studioThe legendary, but long closed, Quebec recording facility, Le Studio, has been the site of a suspicious fire, according to multiple news reports. The studio – which in its heyday hosted clients like Rush, Cat Stevens, David Bowie, and The Police – had been closed and the building unused since 2008 and had fallen into disrepair.

According to the CBC, the fire department received a call around 5:30 a.m. on Friday morning, Aug. 11. It’s also reported that the fire department believes the fire was purposely set and an investigation is now taking place.

Known for its serene and creative atmosphere beside a lake and near the Laurentian Mountains in the Morin Heights area of Quebec,  Le Studio was built  in 1974 by famed producer André Perry. Throughout the 1970s and ’80s it was widely considered one of the best studio and creeative spaces in North America.
