The Toronto section of the Audio Engineering Society will hold its next monthly meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 26 at Sound by Deluxe (424 Adelaide St. E., Toronto, ON). Producer Steve Gamester from Entertainment One Television will give a presentation about the back story of how a new History Channel Program, The Perfect Storms: Galveston, was conceived and how sound and music becomes an important partner to the editing and creating the visuals, as far as the CGI and recreations of dramatic elements of the story are concerned. Gamester will be joined by sound mixer Daniel Pellerin from Daniel Pellerin Digital Sound Production.

Nimbus Launches Hip Hop Production Program

The Nimbus School of Recoding Arts has launched a one-year music production program designed to teach skills specific to producing hip hop and urban music.

The Beats & Urban Music Production (BUMP) was designed in partnership with Grammy Award winning producer & songwriter Chin Injeti, who won for his work on the Eminem album Recovery. Chin has also worked with 50 Cent, Drake, Clipse, Esthero, DJ Khalil, 88 Keys, Organized Noize, and more. (more…)

Call For Papers For AES’ Conference On Music-Induced Hearing Disorders

The Audio Engineering Society (AES) has issued a call for papers to be presented at its 47th Conference event. The conference is titled “Music-Induced Hearing Disorders: New Technologies for Measurement and Protection,” and will highlight the state-of-the-art in hearing loss prevention strategies and devices related to music production and reproduction. The Conference will take place at Columbia College in Chicago, June 20-22, 2012. (more…)

Porter began working as a live sound engineer after graduating with a degree in Audio Engineering from OIART in London, ON. He has worked with bands such as Billy Talent, Alexisonfire, Grady, and Sam Roberts Band. During his work as a sound engineer he designed, built, and managed recording studios before relocating to British Columbia and joining Radial Engineering and Primacoustic.
