Jean-Marc Langevin, VP of Thorvin Electronics, has announced that Contemporary Research Corporation has appointed Thorvin Electronics as its Canadian distributor.
Contemporary research is a company that designs and manufactures intelligent solutions for system integration. Starting with professional TV tuners and AV routers, the Contemporary Research family of products includes HDTV tuners, QMOD HDTV Modulators, Display Express Control Systems, and classroom integration solutions. All created for the systems market.
Peavey Electronics, which until now distributed directly into Canada, has announced the appointment of B&J Music as its new distributor for the Canadian market. B&J Music, a division of JAM, will be the new Canadian distributor for the Peavey, Composite Acoustics, Trace Elliot, and Budda lines. The agreement was confirmed recently after discussions amongst JAM President Martin Szpiro, VP Jeff Carman, B&J VP David McAllister, and Peavey COO Courtland Gray, GM of North American Sales Fred Poole, and Hartley Peavey, Peavey Electronics’ founder.
Hal Leonard is now the distributor of select Grundorf Corporation products the United States and Canada. The joint announcement was made by Frank Grund, president of Grundorf Corporation, and Brad Smith, senior sales and marketing manager for Hal Leonard.

Audio manufacturer Powersoft has announced a shift in its Canadian distribution strategy from a classic distribution model to an independent representative model, similar to its approach it has used in the U.S. Effective Nov. 1st, Powersoft has appointed CM Tech Group as its independent regional representative in Canada. CM Tech Group, a collaborative organization of three independent manufacturer representatives including BG Media Solutions, MM Technologie, and Connect West Marketing (based out of Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver respectively), will be authorized to carry the entire Powersoft product line — including the company’s Duecanali and Ottocanali lines of installation amplifiers.

TC Group has issued an update regarding the Canadian distribution of its brands. This follows Music Group’s acquisition of TC Group in May of 2015. For the Tannoy, Lab Gruppen, TC Electronic, and TC Helicon brands, TC Group’s independent rep firms, BG Media, MM Technologies, and Connect West, have resigned the lines as of Sept. 30, 2015.
Presently, Music Group brands, Behringer, Midas, and Turbosound are distributed through Intellimix/AVL. TC Group Americas CEO Marc Bertrand says”we will be conducting business as usual between now and October 31st, meaning that all TC orders will be coming into our Kitchener office and invoiced/fulfilled as usual with Intellimix/AVL acting as our reps. Over this six week period we will be preparing for moving full Canadian distribution to Intellimix/AVL and their new state of the art facility in Montreal.”
