Program details have been announced for the event, taking place July 15-17, 2015, at McGill University in Montreal. This is the first AES International Conference in over 25 years dedicated to large scale sound reinforcement, public address, and live sound.

RPG’s Peter D’Antonio to Present at AES Toronto June Meeting

RPG Peter D’AntonioThe Toronto chapter of the Audio Engineering Society (AES) has announced the date, presenter, and topic of its June 16th meeting. Dr. Peter D’Antonio, Founder/Chairman of RPG Diffusor Systems, Inc. will discuss RPG’s evolution of products and services over the past three decades and the current state-of-the-art in measuring the absorption, scattering and diffusion coefficients, using multiple microphone technology. He will also describe the services offered by the Chesapeake Acoustic Research Institute he founded in 2007.


Long Reach Long Riders Announce 2015 Charity Ride Route

LBLRThe Long Reach Long Riders have announced the route for their 12th annual charity motorcycle ride.

This year’s ride has been dubbed “Cruzin’ the Ozarks,  The Dozenth’ Year.”  Riders will gather in Nashville, TN, ride down the bucolic Natchez  Trace toward the Ozark Mountains in Arkansas and Missouri and then circle back and pass through the Land Between the Lakes on their return to Nashville.  The route will feature day rides venturing deep into the Ozarks, departing from picturesque Petit Jean State Park.  Experienced riders know these roads as some of the best riding in the country, including the ‘Pig Trail Parkway,’  ‘Ozark Dragon,’ and the ‘Arkansas Grand Canyon’.


Acoustics Week In Canada Heading To Winnipeg

This central location is meant to make it easy for participants from all areas of the country to come together for the three-day event from Oct. 7-10, 2014. It will include plenary lectures and technical sessions, along with the acoustical standards committee meeting, the Canadian Acoustical Association Annual General Meeting, the conference banquet, and other special events.


CITT Rendez-vous Conference & Trade Show Schedule Released

RendezVousThe Canadian Institute for Theatre Technology (CITT)’s annual Rendez-vous trade show and conference has released its full conference schedule. The event will be held at the Ottawa Convention Centre from Aug. 14-16, 2014.

The conference offers three days of sessions, workshops, backstage tours, social events, and networking opportunities. Specific to lighting and visual professionals, conference programming includes sessions on counterweight rigging, making sustainability matter to your company, using special effects and firearms onstage, LEDs, rigging certification, stage fire safety, projection, the future of theatre design in Canada, and many more.


AES Toronto To Honour University of Waterloo’s Audio Research Group

aeslogo6_smallOn June 12, the Toronto chapter of the Audio Engineering Society (AES) is presenting a special meeting to honour the work of an important education force in our audio society, the highly respected University of Waterloo’s Audio Research Group (ARG).  For over 20 years, the group has conducted research in audio, electro-acoustics, and acoustics. It is associated with the Guelph-Waterloo Physics Institute and adjunct emeritus faculty members John Vanderkooy of Physics and Stanley Lipshitz of Applied Mathematics supervise mainly masters but also doctoral studies.

In addition to generating numerous papers that received publication in the AES Journal, alumni have gone on to hold prominent positions in some of the world’s leading audio companies and organizations, e.g. Dolby, Harman, Paradigm, Engineering Harmonics, National Research Council, as well as some non-audio industry companies and institutes.
