NAMM Boosts Pro Audio Focus for 2017 Show

01nammThe National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) has announced it will feature Dante training and certification sessions on Jan. 20-21 at the 2017 NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA, in addition to other pro audio show features. The 2017 NAMM Show will take place at the Anaheim Convention Center Jan. 19-22, 2017.

The Dante training sessions will be presented at the show by Audinate, and will offer attendees an intensive two-days, hands-on training program as part of the company’s Dante Certification Program. As an added programming bonus, TEC Tracks at The NAMM Show will host an “Introduction to Dante” session during its newly-announced Live Sound Day on Thursday, Jan. 19. On that day, participants can learn more about the multi-channel, digital media networking protocol.

Theatre Sound Designer Peter McBoyle to Present at AES Toronto’s December Meeting

peter_mcboyleThe Toronto chapter of the Audio Engineering Society (AES) has announced that it’s next monthly meeting will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016 and will feature accomplished theatre sound designer Peter McBoyle discussing his career and specific productions, including this summer’s Stratford Festival production of A Chorus Line.

About the Event

Sound design for live musical theatre productions has significantly benefited from technological developments in digital audio and digital signal processing in recent years.

Riedel Communications Expands North America Technical Services Staff with Two New Hires

Building out the technical capacity and capabilities of its North American team, Riedel Communications has hired Zach Funk and Justin McClellan as service and support engineers in the Riedel North America Technical Services department. Through their previous experiences in live-event production and broadcast television, both Funk and McClellan have overseen setup, implementation, and maintenance of Riedel signal distribution and communications systems.

On the eve of its 50th year in business, The Freedman Electronics Group, which includes pro audio brands Rode Microphones, Event Electronics and Aphex, announced its purchasing the surround sound recording company SoundField from TSL Products.

Rode Founder and Managing Director Peter Freedman and TSL Products’ Managing Director Chris Exelby signed the deal on Nov. 21, 2016, sealing a deal that now sees Freedman Electronics take control over the entire SoundField company, including the current product line as well as all IP associated with the brand. The existing product line will continue, and all support and warranty for SoundField products will now be handled through the new entity. TSL Products will retain the upmix/downmix processing product range, which will be rebranded.

Bob Snelgrove, president of GerrAudio Distribution, has announced the addition of Dany Legendre and Michael Belluz to the company’s team of technical sales support specialists.

Legendre is described as a highly respected technical artist throughout Quebec and has toured inside and out of Canada mixing a wide variety of concerts, special events, and broadcasts. He has a deep knowledge of DiGiCo mixing consoles as well as being recognized by DPA Microphones as a member of DPA’s “Master’s Club.” Most recently, Legendre has been known for being Roch Voisine’s head of audio. Legendre is based in Montreal and will be primarily looking after the Quebec market.

Katsipis comes to SC Media from SFM and has over 20 years of experience in the industry. He will responsible for the development of the Harman Pro brands (AKG, BSS, Crown, DBX, JBL, Lexicon, and Soundcraft), as well as Barco and Absen in his territory.
