Prolight + Sound 2017 to Offer Extensive Education Program

From April 4-7, 2017, Prolight + Sound will offer an extensive program of lectures covering all facets of the event industry. Aimed at both newcomers to the sector and experts, the lectures will be held in the Forum building, close to the City Entrance of the Exhibition Centre in Franfurt, Germany.

As in previous years, the program is split into three parts, the Prolight + Sound Conference, the Manufacturers’ Forum and the Eventplaza Conference. Numerous lectures will be given in English and are aimed at an international audience.

d&b audiotechnik has announced the appointment of Stephan Greiner as chief sales officer. As of March 1, 2017, Greiner serves as a member of the managing board, reporting directly to CEO Amnon Harman.

Greiner succeeds Hans-Peter Nüdling, taking responsibility for global sales and sales operations, as well as education, application support, and product services.

Tim Marshall Joins Erikson Audio as Product Manager

Tim MarshallErikson Audio has announced that Tim Marshall has joined the company in the role of product manager.

Marshall is a veteran of the Canadian music industry as a musician, recording engineer, and former marketing manager for Yorkville Sound. He started his career in the industry in the early ’90s as a sales associate at Long & McQuade.

“Tim’s background and vast experience make him a great addition to the Erikson Audio team,” says Jeff Carman, Erikson Audio Vice President. “We are excited to have him on board.”

Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull Visits RØDE

Malcolm Turnbull at RodeOn Feb. 24th, Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull visited his country’s most successful audio company, RØDE Microphones, at the manufacturer’s Silverwater facility, in part to celebrate the Freedman Electronics 50th anniversary.

Prime Minister Turnbull and MP Craig Laundy, Assistant Minister for Industry, Innovation and Science, were greeted by RØDE Founder and Chairman Peter Freedman, Freedman Electronics CEO Mr. Damien Wilson, and Tony Furney of Furney’s Engineering, then toured the RØDE campus’s state-of-the-art anechoic chamber and various manufacturing departments. These include RØDE’s precision CNC metal work, surface-mount-technology electronics production and RØDE’s one-of-a-kind manufacture installation – the Capsule Cell (it makes the “heart” of the microphone – the capsule).

NAB Gearing Up For 2017 Show

09 NABThe NAB Show will be returning to Las Vegas from April 22-27, 2017. It is world’s largest electronic media show covering the creation, management, and delivery of content across all platforms. The theme for this year’s show is The M.E.T. Effect, meaning the intersection of media, entertainment, and technology, fueled by internet connectivity and integrated systems.

Exhibitors will represent all AV-related industries, including broadcast, digital media, film, entertainment, telecom, postproduction, education, houses of worship, advertising, military/government, retail, security, sports, IT, and more.

Educational Schedule Released for Expo-Scène 2017

04 Expo-SceneCITT/ICTS is preparing to welcome more than 60 exhibitors and over 1,200 visitors to Montreal for the third annual Expo-Scène trade show and conference, which is returning to the Palais des congrès de Montréal from April 12-13, 2017. Expo-Scène is currently the only major Canadian event dedicated to professionals in the pro audio, sound, lighting, audiovisual, video, and multimedia technology markets.

For this year, educational seminars in French and English are scheduled for the afternoon on both days of the show, spread across four studio spaces. Topics for these classes include live sound production, cargo transportation and customs, what you need to know about drones, real-word beamforming, integration, and more.

Prolight + Sound 2017 Presents New ‘Silent Stage’

09 PL+SThe coming Prolight + Sound show in Frankfurt, Germany, happening April 4-7, 2017, will introduce visitors to the silent-stage concept with a new special area and give event-technology professionals and musicians the chance to learn how this stage set-up can help improve not only the mix, but also the performance of musical acts. The advantages of a silent stage will be explained and opportunities for implementing the concept illustrated by live demonstrations featuring a presenter and band.

Numerous event-technology companies are involved in realising the special area and will be showing their products and technologies there. They include Audio-Technica, Box of Doom, Cymatic Audio, Fischer Amps, Hearsafe, InEar, Kemper, Klang Technologies, and Vision Ears.

InfoComm Show 2017 Registration Open; Emerging Trends Day Introduced

InfoComm 2016InfoComm International, in partnership with IMCCA, will host a day of emerging trends education on Tuesday, June 13, the day before the InfoComm 2017 show floor opens at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL. The special day of insight into the future of the AV industry will feature the inaugural class of Emerging Trends Fellows— experts chosen for their knowledge of a cross-section of critical technology areas.

Registration for InfoComm 2017 is officially open at infocommshow.org. InfoComm 2017 takes place June 10-16 (exhibits: June 14-16).

Roland Canada Expands Olivier Potvin’s Sales Territory to all of Eastern Canada

Oliver PotvinRoland Canada has announced that Olivier Potvin will be taking on the role of sales representative for Eastern Canada.

After completing his studies in Film, Potvin began working as an advisor at Musique Richard Gendreau in Quebec City, where he rose to the position of Manager.  In August 2016, Potvin joined the Roland Canada team as the Sales Representative focusing on Eastern Quebec. As of Jan. 1st, Potvin’s territory expands to include Eastern Quebec, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.
