L-Acoustics Acquires CAMCO

L-Acoustics’ holding company, L-Group, has announced the acquisition of CAMCO, the manufacturer of amplified controllers, DSP, and audio network solutions for the professional audio industry.

CAMCO has over 25 years of experience developing amplified controller technology and holds several patents in the trade. Based in Wenden, Germany, CAMCO counts 50 employees and distributes its products in 60 countries around the globe, in addition to supplying components to professional sound system manufacturers.

Martin Audio Appoints Dan Orton as Product Group Manager

Orton will report to James King, director of marketing, and his duties will include management of both the product portfolio and product support team. At the same time he will be tasked with delivering improved territory application support and monitoring.

With extensive pro audio experience in both the live sound and installation markets, Orton has worked in a variety of engineering development and application engineer roles with both Turbosound and L-Acoustics.

XYZ Cultural Technology Hires Joël Beauchamp as Director of Facilities

Jacques Larue and Éric Cyr, partners at Montreal-based XYZ Cultural Technology, have announced the arrival of Joël Beauchamp, CTS, as director of facilities. Beauchamp brings more than 15 years’ audiovisual experience in key positions with companies such as Allied Systems and Solotech, where he worked as director of operations for the last three years.

Beauchamp is being brought on board as part of the strategic growth plan at XYZ Cultural Technology, which doubled its personnel this past year through acquisitions and new hirings. “This adds an important element to the exceptional team already in place,” says Larue. “In addition to being an excellent manager, Joël fully understands the issues surrounding audiovisual integration. His presence will support our growth-oriented strategy and ensure that our many ongoing and future projects continue to deliver high-quality standards.”

Radial Engineering has announced that Joseph Strovas has joined its team in the new role of international sales manager for Hafler, Dynaco, Jensen Transformers, and the Primacoustic Install Division.

Strovas has worked in the industry for nearly 30 years in all aspects of the business, including retail, distribution, and manufacturing. He brings a lot of experience in global business development for several specialty audio/hi-fi companies, including AudioQuest, Madrigal Audio Laboratories (including Mark Levinson, Proceed, Revel), BDI, and Densen Audio. Strovas also owned his own brick and mortar retail hi-fi business for seven years in Phoenix, AZ.

Radial Engineering has announced the addition of Kevin Knoll to its Vancouver, BC-based engineering team.

In his role as senior design engineer, Knoll has been specifically tasked with designing the commercial line of Hafler brand amplifiers. (Radial Engineering acquired Hafler in 2014.) He will also be assisting the engineering team on various projects for all of the Radial group of companies.

Registration Now Open for Expo-Scene 2017

CITT/ICTS is preparing to welcome more than 60 exhibitors and over 1,200 visitors to Montral for the third annual Expo-Scène trade show and conference, which is returning to the Palais des congrès de Montréal on April 12-13, 2017. Expo-Scene is currently the only major Canadian event dedicated to professionals in the pro audio, sound, lighting, audiovisual, video, and multimedia technologies.

Last year, organizers increased the exhibit space by 50 per cent and scheduled more seminars and workshops, which covered health and safety, new and future technologies, and real-world technical advice.

Dante Training Program to be Offered at The 2017 NAMM Show

The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) has announced it will feature Dante training and certification sessions on Jan. 20-21 at the 2017 NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA.The sessions will be presented at the show by Audinate, and will offer attendees the opportunity to experience an intensive two-days of hands-on training as part of the company’s Dante Certification Program. As an added programming bonus, TEC Tracks at The NAMM Show will host a special “Introduction to Dante” session during its newly-announced Live Sound Day on Thursday, Jan. 19. On that day, participants can learn more about the multi-channel, digital media networking protocol.
