Online Program “My Canadian Studio” Launches

17 WILDSHOT MyProjectStudioMontreal’s Mathieu Marano has launched a new online program at www.mycanadianstudio.com called My Canadian Studio. Produced by ÜberMedia and The Montreal Creative Front and shot a Coup Monté Studios in Montreal, this series is a spin-off the popular web TV show Mon Studio au Canada that has been going for three years. It is a weekly online show aimed at educating and advancing Canadian media professionals, touching all aspects of live production, performance, and distribution.

TOA Canada Corporation, manufacturer of commercial audio and intercom products, has announced the appointment of Warren Strem to its sales team as Regional Sales Manager – West Coast.

Strem will be working with Barry Taylor (Regional Sales Manager – BC, AB, SK, MB) in anticipation of Taylor’s retirement (date pending). Strem will be responsible for British Columbia and Alberta.  Taylor will also cover British Columbia and Alberta, along with Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

Digigram, developer of audio and video solutions, has announced that it is reinforcing its distribution channels in the Americas to sustain increasing adoption of its sound cards, IP audio codecs, and IP video encoders across this area. Sonotechnique, recently appointed, will be responsible for distributing Digigram’s audio-over-IP codecs and video-over-IP products in Canada. Point Source Audio will continue to be the exclusive master distributor in North and South America for Digigram sound cards in any market, as well as PYKO audio codecs and AQILIM OTT video encoders in AV installations. Newly appointed ATA Audio will be responsible for distributing audio-over-IP codecs in the United States, with a focus on the broadcast market.

QSC has announced the appointment of Derek Black as sales manager for Canada. In this role, Black will focus on QSC’s systems and live sound business units. He will focus will be on business development, strategic accounts management, and continued efforts in building QSC’s brand in Canada.

Black brings more than 30 years of audio industry experience, with background in both technical and sales management, and more than a decade of experience in independent sales rep force management.

Expo-Scène Returning For Second Edition In May 2016

CITT/ICTS is expanding the exhibition space for the second annual Expo-Scène trade show and conference, which is returning to Montreal from May 2-3, 2016, a month later than last year’s event.

There will be 50 per cent more space at the Palais des congrès de Montréal and organizers expect to welcome over 1,000 professional attendees. Seminars and workshops will cover health and safety, new and future technologies, and real-world technical advice.

Prism Sound Announces Maselec Master Series Rebranding

Prism Sound has announced that from today (March 31st, 2016) it will no longer market its Maselec Master Series products, namely MEA-2, MLA-2, and MMA-4XR.

The MEA-2, MLA-2, and MMA-4XR products, designed and manufactured by Mases Electronics Limited, will in future be available under the Maselec brand from Mases Electronics Limited.

Federal Budget Commits $1.9 Billion To Arts & Culture

Finance-MinisterFinance Minister Bill Morneau unveiled the new Liberal Government’s first budget yesterday, March 22nd, and in it the federal government made good on a number of campaign promises related to arts funding. In total, the Liberal Government committed $1.9 billion in new funding over five years to arts and culture programs and institutions.

In the 269-page budget, the government committed to investing an additional $675 million in the CBC/Radio-Canada over the next five years “to modernize and revitalize CBC/Radio Canada in the digital era.” This is divided into $75 million this coming fiscal year and $150 million in each of the next four years.
