Zoom North America Appoints Intellimix as Canadian Sales Partner

Japan-based Zoom Corporation has appointed its affiliate Zoom North America as its distributor in Canada, starting with the ARQ Aero RhythmTrak and H4n Pro Handy Recorder products. Accordingly, Zoom North America has appointed Intellimix Corp. as its partner for fulfillment and service in the Canadian marketplace.

Omnimedia, which has represented Zoom in Canada for many years, will continue to operate as the sole distributor of Zoom legacy product (product introduced prior to the 2016 NAMM Show) until July 31, 2016. Intellimix has told Professional Sound that as of June 1st it will be selling the new products off the assembly line and as of August 2016, it will take over fulfillment of orders for all of Zoom products for Canada.

VUE Audiotechnik has announced the addition of Frank Loyko to the position of Vice President Global Sales where he will oversee all of the company’s global sales and distribution activities and initiatives. Based in Seattle, Loyko brings 36 years of executive experience building sales networks at professional audio companies including EAW, RCF, Avid Technology, and the TC Group.

“Having worked with Frank a number of times in the past, I am delighted to have this opportunity to work with Frank again,” says VUE CEO Ken Berger. “There is no one I know with more knowledge and the ability to build a world class sales organization. Lectrosonics Announces the Passing of Former President & Chairman John Arasim

The company writes:

John Arasim’s two passions were his family and his work.

It was under John’s guidance that Lectrosonics became a standard of motion picture, television, news and reality programming. His impact on ENG, television and motion picture production encompassed 3 decades. During his tenure, the lexicon for production audio was expanded to include terms such as “camera mount receiver, “plug-on transmitter”, “bag system”, “camera hop” and “quad box”. Always innovative, his first diversity receivers featured hand-made 6 pole helical resonators machined from pipe couplings.

AES Toronto Going to McMaster University’s LIVELab on Tuesday

live-lab-1The Toronto section of the Audio Engineering Society (AES) will be heading to McMaster University’s LIVELab on Tuesday, May 31st, for an interesting peak at the researchers’ unique work looking into the effects of music and sound on the brain, as well as the audio technology in the facility.  The event does require pre-registration, which is free, and can be found at the bottom of the page here: www.torontoaes.org/music-mind-livelab/

InfoComm 2016 to Showcase the Internet of Things

The Internet of Things will make its presence felt at InfoComm 2016, happening June 4-10 at the Las Vegas Convention Center and Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino. Show organizers expect nearly 1,000 exhibitors to occupy more than 500,000 sq. ft. of show space. InfoComm 2016 builds on last year’s record attendance, welcoming attendees from more than 100 countries.

Willcox comes to Meyer Sound with three decades of experience in the residential AV market, both as an owner of a Midwestern systems integration firm and as VP of sales and business development at CINEAK, a supplier of furnishings for private cinemas. He served on the board of directors and executive board of CEDIA, serving as president of the organization from 2005 to 2006.

Yorkville Sound has added British studio microphone builder Aston Microphones to its catalog of distributed lines.

Newly founded in the U.K., the first four products in the Aston catalog are the Origin and Spirit studio microphones, the Rycote compact shockmount, and the Halo reflection filter. All Aston products are designed and built in the U.K. and will be shipping this summer.
