After being an Avid agent for the last 10 years, LS Media has become the exclusive Canadian distributor for Avid’s live sound solutions, and it has joined the select Avid Learning Partner (ALP) program providing training in the use of Avid products.

Managed by national sales director Hugo Larin, Montreal-based LS Media, as Avid’s exclusive Canadian distributor for live sound, supplies customers with Avid live sound systems, including the Avid VENUE | S6L mixing system.

One Systems Inc. has named Garry Templin to the position of director of sales, North America for all three of the company’s brands – One Systems, On Point Audio, and P.Audio. The announcement was made by Doug MacCallum, president of One Systems, Inc.

Templin joined the company earlier this year to spearhead sales efforts for the P.Audio brand. This position provides him better access to the sales reps across all brands, further solidifying the sound reinforcement solutions that One Systems’ products provide to the industry, according to the company.

The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) has announced that the membership has elected new officers and governors for the 2017-2018 term. Matthew Goldman, senior vice president of technology, TV and media at Ericsson, will take office as the new SMPTE president on Jan. 1, 2017.

“Matthew has held a variety of key SMPTE roles that have furthered the Society’s mission, and I am confident that as the new SMPTE President, he will build on Bob Seidel’s excellent work,” says SMPTE Past President Wendy Aylsworth, who served as the chair of the Society Nominating Committee. “Matthew and Bob are among the many SMPTE Members who have worked to bolster the Society’s growth leading into and during our Centennial celebrations. The officers and governors elected for the 2017-2018 term — and those who continue in their existing roles — are a broad and strong group who bring extraordinary leadership to SMPTE as we enter our second century of ensuring interoperability across the media ecosystem and, in turn, facilitating the ongoing growth of our industry.”

QSC Acquires Ultra-Stereo Labs

QSC, LLC has announced the acquisition of Ultra-Stereo Labs, Inc., effective September 30, 2016.  The acquisition will allow QSC to enhance its portfolio of audio-visual processing and B-chain solutions under the QSC and USL brands for the motion picture exhibition industry.

Audio-Technica has announced the formation of a new subsidiary company named Alteros. Audio-Technica says the creation of this new company will allow for dedicated focus and flexible action to provide a wide range of technically advanced solutions that directly address issues surrounding the shrinking frequency spectrum, affecting the operation of wireless products used in live audio production, broadcast studios, sporting events, theaters, and other applications. The announcement of the formation of Alteros was made by Philip Cajka, Audio-Technica U.S. president and CEO, and Jackie Green, Audio-Technica’s U.S. VP of R&D and engineering and Alteros president and CTO. In addition to Jackie Green, the Alteros management team includes Brian Fair, executive VP of digital engineering, and Bob Green, Executive VP of product engineering.
