With a focus on the hospitality sector, HK Audio Business Solutions will service customers who are not only looking for exemplary sound reinforcement, but who also want to be able to aesthetically integrate loudspeakers into sophisticated design environments, according to the company. To this end, Business Solutions customers will be able to customize their HK Audio system of choice to suit their needs.

Solotech has announced that Mike Poirier has joined its Integration Division as Business Development Director for the broadcast market. Poirier will work within Solotech’s broadcast sales team.

Poirier joins the company with more than three decades of experience in the broadcast, AV, and post-production industries. “Mike has extensive experience in selling system solutions in both Canada and the US,” says Danny Berthelet, executive VP of Solotech’s Integration Division. “With his rich blend of technical expertise and his know-how in marketing and sales, he will be a valuable asset as Solotech steps up its efforts in the broadcast markets”.

2016 NAB Show Sees 103K Registered Attendees

The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) has announced the preliminary registered attendance of 103,012 for the 2016 NAB Show. The exhibition featured 1,874 companies spanning 1,063,380-net-sq.-ft. of exhibit space

Freeman Audio Visual Canada has won the Canadian Event Perspective Award in the category of Best Audio Visual Design for an Event for production of the 2015 Winter Cities Shake-Up. The award was presented by the Canadian Special Events Media Group.

The inaugural Winter Cities Shake-Up, held in Edmonton in January 2015, served as a gathering of urban planners and designers, entrepreneurs and business people, artists, cultural and community organizers, and people who live in winter cities and want to take advantage of all winter has to offer. The conference featured three days of presentations from internationally-renowned experts and rising stars in winter design, winter business and winter fun.

PLASA Launches ‘National Event Lifting Certificate’ Qualification

PLASA has launchd its latest industry qualification – The National Event Lifting Certificate (NELC). PLASA says it was developed with the support of The National Rigging Advisory Group (NRAG) and industry sponsors, this new certification scheme has been created in response to demand from both employers and freelancers for a competence indicator for people who carry out lifting operations.

Employers know that LOLER Regulations require lifting equipment to be safe; most have their motors, rigging and trusses inspected on a regular basis and hold all the necessary paperwork to prove it.  LOLER also places duties on employers to ensure lifting operations are planned, supervised, and carried out safely by people who are sufficiently competent. This includes planning the lift, attaching loads, and the use of hoists and associated control equipment. If employees use lifting equipment, their employer has the responsibility to ensure they do so correctly and safely even when using another suppliers equipment.
