Powersoft Appoints CM Tech Group As Canadian Sales Reps

CM Tech GroupAudio manufacturer Powersoft has announced a shift in its Canadian distribution strategy from a classic distribution model to an independent representative model, similar to its approach it has used in the U.S. Effective Nov. 1st, Powersoft has appointed CM Tech Group as its independent regional representative in Canada. CM Tech Group, a collaborative organization of three independent manufacturer representatives including BG Media Solutions, MM Technologie, and Connect West Marketing (based out of Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver respectively), will be authorized to carry the entire Powersoft product line — including the company’s Duecanali and Ottocanali lines of installation amplifiers.

Tracktion Acquires 2JW Design

2jw_BldgTracktion Corporation, a developer of music recording software, has completed the acquisition of Seattle-based, audio hardware manufacturer, 2JW Design. The merger is seen as the next step toward Tracktion’s stated goal of creating a new line of boutique professional audio hardware. The first of these products, a computer interface called Copper Reference, is due in 2016.

AES67-2015 Confirms Stability of Interoperability Standard

A maintenance revision to AES67-2013 – the AES standard for high-performance streaming audio-over-IP interoperability – has been issued. The revision, called AES67-2015, clarifies some of the interoperability requirements, based on general implementation and “plugfest” experience.

The possibility to incorporate these revisions was identified during the AES ‘Plugfest’ 1 testing, carried out in cooperation with the European Broadcast Union (EBU), in October last year, and held at the Institut für Rundfunktechnik (IRT), in Munich, Germany. During these tests ten companies tested 16 currently available networked-audio products with AES67-specific extensions against each other to confirm interoperability.

Free Registration for IMSTA FESTA Toronto is Open

SMALL-RK-WG-full-roomThe second annual IMSTA FESTA Toronto will head next Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015, at Ryerson University and free registration is open.  Presented by the International Music Software Trade Association (IMSTA), the IMSTA FESTA event are held annually in Toronto, Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles and showcase the latest music-making and production technologies as well as educational seminars and keynotes speeches and Q&As.

This year’s event will feature a keynote presentation by legendary producers and engineer Jimmy Douglas (Rolling Stones, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Al Green). Additionally, Canadian Musician Assistant Editor Michael Raine will be presenting a seminar on “Getting Your Message to the Media.” Other presentation and seminar topics will be “Composing for Visual Media,” “Dance Music Master Class,” and a “Cooking Beats” workshop.

Read Wineland Retires from Biamp Systems
