NWC Hires New Computer Services Coordinator

Jim Norris, president of PS publisher Norris-Whitney Communications, has announced the appointment of Kyle Chiki as NWC’s computer services coordinator.

Chiki has studied website development, computer programming, and games development at Niagara College and computer science and business at Brock University.

Chiki will be in charge of all online and computer activities for NWC and will be providing web development and other online services for the company’s clients.

Stephen Fraser Named New CEO; Jim Odom Now President at PreSonus

The board of directors of PreSonus Audio Electronics has announced that COO Stephen Fraser has become the firm’s Chief Executive Officer, effective February 10, 2015.  The directors also announced that Founder and former Chief Strategy Officer, Jim Odom will become President.

Kevin Couhig, Board Chairman, says, “We believe Stephen is ideally suited to lead PreSonus forward as Chief Executive. In his five years as PreSonus COO, he has developed highly effective strategies backed by strong operating skills and relentless execution. Outgoing CEO Jim Mack will be a ‘tough act to follow’, but we’re confident that Stephen will continue a great track record as CEO.”

SFM Now Distributing Atlantic Technology in Canada

Previously a two-day event, the 2015 Toronto CDJ Show now features a third day of events, educational sessions, and networking opportunities. It’ll be taking place March 13-15 in downtown Toronto and will focus on professional development, unique training opportunities, and exclusive product releases for DJs, producers, and music enthusiasts of all skill and experience levels.

The 2015 venue is the Hilton Toronto, located at Richmond Street West and University, in the heart of downtown Toronto. The CDJ Show features the latest equipment, technology and information that the DJ and music industries have to offer. Organizers say this year’s show will easily be the biggest in CDJ Show history.

Following its acquisition of Midnite Hour Productions in November 2014, Solotech has announced its further growth in Toronto with the acquisition of the assets of P.A. Plus Productions.

According to François Ménard, Solotech’s CEO, this transaction will allow Solotech to add P.A. Plus Productions sound system expertise to services already offered by Solotech in the greater Toronto area. This acquisition will complement Solotech’s offer in audio, lighting, video, rigging, and scenery and will be an addition to the activities of Midnite Hour Productions.

John Rechsteiner Joins Audinate to Lead Sales & Support

Rechsteiner brings over two decades of sales, marketing, and customer support experience in the pro audio, broadcast, and post production industries. John most recently served as Vice President of Sales, Asia Pacific for Avid based in Tokyo, Japan.

The company says Rechsteiner will lead the worldwide sales and customer support teams as Audinate scales these teams in response to the growing number of manufacturers who have adopted Dante. Earlier in his career, Rechsteiner led the expansion of DigiDesign (now Avid) in the Asia Pacific region.

Nimbus Announces Dylan Martin Sterling Memorial Bursary

Vancouver’s Nimbus School of Recording Arts, in partnership with Kim Foreman-Rhindress and family, have announced a memorial bursary dedicated to the life of their son Dylan Martin Sterling, who passed away suddenly from heart failure on May 15, 2014, at age 22.

“It was Dylan’s dream to come to Nimbus and we’re grateful that Nimbus is helping us as a family support someone else’s dream of a career in music,” says Kim Foreman, “The last 8 months have been an intense journey for us and creating this memorial bursary has played an important role in providing us with something positive and life-affirming in the face of deep sadness and loss.”
