AES 57th Convention to Focus on Future of Audio Entertainment Technology

AES logoThe Audio Engineering Society (AES) is set to host its 57th International Conference on Friday, March 6 to Sunday, March 8, 2015, in Los Angeles, CA at the TCL Chinese 6 Theatres in Hollywood, with hotel accommodations across the street at the historic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. With the participation of industry partner SMPTE – the Society of Motion and Television Engineers – and following on the heels of the highly-successful Sound for Picture program track at the recent AES137 International Convention in L.A., the 57th Conference is well positioned to set yet another milestone for the AES. With a direct focus on the Future of Audio Entertainment Technology, this conference will explore the latest issues facing audio professionals today in regards to cinema, television, online content, and more, and is being co-chaired by Brian McCarty and Dr. Sean Olive.

Hal Leonard Now Distributing Apogee Electronics

Recent talks between Hal Leonard Corporation and digital audio recording company Apogee Electronics have culminated in a new distribution deal for the MI and pro audio channels in the U.S. and Canada. Apogee director of worldwide sales, Jeremy Stappard, reached the agreement with Brad Smith, senior sales and marketing manager for Hal Leonard.

Hal Leonard will initially distribute Apogee’s ONE for iPad and Mac, MiC 96k, JAM, JAM 96k, andGiO lines. These products were some of the first professional-quality audio interfaces for recording using iPhones, iPads, and Macs.

AES Welcomes Andres Mayo as President

Andres MayoFollowing the 137th Audio Engineering Society Convention, which took place Oct. 9-12, 2014,  in Los Angeles, the AES is  welcoming new President Andres Mayo as he takes over the leadership role from Dr. Sean Olive. Mayo currently serves as owner and senior mastering engineer at Andres Mayo Mastering and Audio Post in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and, as an award-winning producer and engineer, he is set to guide the AES into the coming year and through AES138 in Warsaw, Poland and the Convention’s return to New York City for AES139 in the fall of 2015.

Session Info Announced for High Resolution Audio Program at AES137

AES137Detailed session information has been announced for the AES137 High Resolution Audio (HRA) program, taking place Friday, Oct. 10, 2014, in Room 304 AB at the 137th Audio Engineering Society Convention (October 9-12, 2014, at the Los Angeles Convention Center in downtown Los Angeles). The direct result of a collaborative effort between the AES and DEG: The Digital Entertainment Group, the HRA program will include a number of panels and sessions that address the current and future direction of HRA from various perspectives, including content creation, digital distribution, licensing of hi-res music files, archiving, subscription models, marketing/promotion of hi-res music, compatibility of playback devices and more.

Aphex Moves to Salt Lake City

AphexPro audio brand Aphex recently announced that it has moved the company to Salt Lake City, in order to increase operational efficiencies by being closer to parent company DWV Entertainment and the core Aphex creative and engineering teams. The move, completed in September, includes opening a new Aphex warehouse in Utah to complement existing manufacturing and shipping facilities in California.
