Metalworks Productions Launched

Owner of Metalworks Studios and Metalworks Institute, Gil Moore, has recently launched a new company, Metalworks Productions.

Metalworks Productions is a full service sound, lighting, video and staging production company that services to both corporate and music clients. “We do a lot of work where we develop presentation materials that are being used at live events, video products, DVDs and so on. So to have a production actually be able to display, produce events and display those materials, it kind of goes hand in hand,” says Moore. “It’s a one-stop-shop for a customer, I think we’re a little unique in that market.”

Metalworks Productions is within walking distance as Metalworks Studios and Metalworks Institute as it’s in the same plaza. Former owner of BCB Productions, Cam Butler, has been hired as President of Metalworks Productions. He will be running the company along side of Mike Primeau, the new General Manager. Primeau will be responsible for the equipment and packaging of shows and inventory. Moore says that Primeau worked on the crew for Triumph and is probably best known for working with Burton Cummings and Holly Cole. “He’s a good personal friend of mine,” says Moore. “He’s retiring from the road to run the back shop.” Besides two other employees that came from BCB, everyone at Metalworks Productions is new.

The Metalworks Institute has had much success with the Audio Production Engineering program as well as the Entertainment Business Management program. So Moore felt it was imperative to add a new program that corresponds with Metalworks Productions. The Show Production and Event Management program has been submitted to the Ministry of Education and is waiting for approval. “I have no doubt that they’ll approve it, it’s very well put together and well researched.” Moore has a background in this himself and he says that he sees a void in the Canadian college market in that no one is offering this type of program in a serious way.

When this program is approved Moore says that the live production company will provide access to technicians who are on the cutting edge of audio and lighting technology to the institute. “It’s a pretty good sister company relationship.”
